Giulia Enders is a German physician and science writer, born in Mannheim in 1990. She studied medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt, where her doctoral research in microbiology focused on the bacterium Acinetobacter baumannii, and she trained clinically in internal medicine and gastroenterology. Her 2012 science-slam talk on the digestive system became the international bestseller Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ (Darm mit Charme, 2014), which sold millions of copies and helped bring the gut microbiome into mainstream conversation. Her second book, Organ Speak (2026), extends that approach to the whole body, asking what our organs' quiet intelligence can teach us about healing and recovery.
